00 A religion scholar says the reason she studies UFOs is because she studies purgatory and that the souls people report seeing inside alien encounters are almost always someone who already died. When you study how people believed in the afterlife in, and in fact the reason I study UFOs is because I studied purgatory. So people would see things like orbs, things in the sky and so forth, and they would interpret them as souls from purgatory. There are orbs in Japan who they also interpret as souls. So this has been probably the most prevailing identification or, I'm sorry, interpretation of orbs in history is that they're deceased, like the souls of deceased people. That's not a fringe theory. It's Diana Pasalka who chairs the Death, Dying and Beyond group, at the American Academy of Religion. She describes the most common interpretation of orbs, fireballs across two continents. If she's right, then the lights that people are filming in the sky are being read by cultures thousands of miles apart as dead people. The Bible has a direct answer for what happens to the dead, and it does not match what these witnesses are saying. We're going to walk through the testimony first, and then the doctrine behind it, and what Scripture actually says about this. But before we get into it, I want to tell you that we have a store that you should look at. It has 120 products in it, but more than that, it has some free books you should get as well. While you're there, look at all of our shirts. Really cool and neat designs there at store.orionmedia.tv. Again, that website is store.orionmedia.tv. Pasalka's research does not stop at orbs. She says the connection between death and alien contact shows up directly in the story. She says, Yeah. So, there is a link between death and alien experiences, experiences of aliens. So, it's a strange link that a lot of people, like, scratch their heads about. So, people who have experiences, like, excuse me, UFO experiences, they'll see, like, in craft or something, often, or they're having abduction experiences, often they'll see people who have passed on, People report a craft or an abduction, and inside that experience, they see someone who has already died. Pasalka is not the only researcher who has noticed this pattern. She points to John Keel, the writer who coined the term men in black, and his idea of what he called super spectrum.

49 John Keel is a really, he's funny to read because he's, I wouldn't say he's kind of grouchy, right? He has a grouchy writing style, but he's really good. So some of what he talks about is this thing called the super spectrum. And so he believes that there's another reality around us, like another dimension. And within that dimension are all these anomalous things like Virgin Mary apparitions, angel sightings, demons, UFOs, deceased people, right? Souls from purgatory that are not real. And so he believes that there's another reality around us, like another dimension. That kind of thing. He places them all within this field, this interdimensional field that he says, and he's, by the way, he is not a big fan of UFOs or any of those things. He thinks that they harass people. Keel put Marian apparitions, angels, demons, UFOs, and the soul of the dead in the same category, coming from the same place. No, he was right that it is one source. Scripture names that source, and it is not the same source. It is one source. It is one source. It is one source. Not purgatory. We will get there. First, we need to know where the idea of a soul that survives death and can appear to the living actually came from. It is older than any of these researchers. It is the oldest lie in the book. In fact, it didn't even come from the church. The serpent in the tree of knowledge of good and evil said to the woman, ye shall not surely die. That is the first recorded lie in scriptures. And it is a lie that is not purgatory. It is not purgatory. It is not a direct denial of what God has just said about death. Every doctrine that depends on a soul surviving the body traces back to that sentence. Now, Ellen White wrote about where that lie eventually led. Upon the fundamental error of natural immortality rests the doctrine of unconscious death. Purgatory, praying the dead, and spirits of the dead speaking to the living all stand on that one assumption here. Pasalka, her own research, traces the line from purgatory straight to what people are reporting in UFO cases today.

02 Now, I don't even believe in purgatory, but let's just go along the thought for a second. Take the assumption away and none of it holds up. The doctrine of man's consciousness and death, especially the belief that the spirits of the dead return to minister to the living, has prepared the way for modern spiritualism. That sentence was written more than a century before anyone was filming orbs on a phone. It describes exactly what's happening right now, and one of the clearest cases on record is a woman known as the Lady, reported by contactee Chris Bledsoe, but seen around the world as Marian apparitions. So, the Lady of Fatima incident in the early 1900s, 1917, the original descriptions of what the kids saw was a floating, luminous woman who was about three to four feet tall, with a white dress. Is that the same entity that you encountered? Yep. Yeah, well, that's the description that I saw, but, you know, I'm a Protestant, a Baptist guy from North Carolina. I'm not a Catholic, so when I saw her, I recognized this heavenly being, but I didn't see the Catholic Virgin Mary there. Bledsoe says the being he saw matches the Fatima experience in 1917, and he, he says the same figure appeared in Champaign, Wisconsin in the 1850s. Rome, of course, identifies the figure as Mary, a woman who died roughly 2,000 years ago, appearing to speak to the living. This is not only a UFO phenomenon. It shows up inside near-death experiences testimony, too. And I've talked to people that have gone to heaven near-death experience. They describe it as the throne of thrones, and even God bigger than all the universes combined, if you can believe it.

54 People, describing what they saw near death is a real common experience. The question this episode is asking is not whether or not something happened to them. The question is what scripture says is actually possible for the dead. And we will test every one of these claims against the standard before we are done. Deathbed testimony carries a specific kind of weight, because people assume no one lies with their last words. I talked to the son, a good friend of mine who's, who's invited to Wright-Patterson in 48, the spring after Roswell and handled the debris and saw a live body, you know, and a deceased one. Alex That's the pull. That a dying man would not lie to his own child. It is the exact emotional pull that makes spiritualism work. It's worth naming that pull before we go any further because scripture is about to tell us it can be used against us. What does the Bible actually say happens to a person that is living with a body and needs a judgement? The Bible actually says that the blood they die. Well, for the living know that they shall die, but the dead know not anything. Neither have they any more a reward, for that memory of them is forgotten. Also their love and their hatred and their envy is now perished. Neither have they any more a portion forever in the thing that is done under the sun. The dead do not know what is happening on earth. They cannot hate or take part in anything under the sun. That means they cannot appear to the living and they cannot send a message. Whatsoever thy hand finds to do, do it with all thy might. For there is no work, nor device, no knowledge, no wisdom in the grave whither thou goest. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth, that the very day his thoughts perish. The dead praise not the Lord, neither any that go down into silence. Jesus used one word, for the state, and he used it about a man he was minutes away from raising from the grave.

56 These things said he. And after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth, but I go, that I may wake him up out of sleep. His disciples did not understand him, so he said it again without the figure of speech. Then Jesus said unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead. Job describes exactly how long that sleep lasts. The man lies down and rises not, till the heavens be no more. They shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep. Not awake until the heavens are no more? Peter said the same thing about David on the day of Pentecost, standing in front of a crowd that could have walked to his tomb. For David is not ascended into the heavens. If David, a man after God's own heart, has not ascended into heaven, then no dead human being has, except for the ones that the Bible names. And we'll go into that some other time. Who only has immortality, dwelling in the light which no human can approach unto? Only God possesses immortality, not the soul of Samuel, not the soul of Mary, not the soul of anyone's grandmother. So when does anyone who has died actually rise?

10 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, with the trump of God, and the dead in Christ shall rise first. The hope scripture offers, is a resurrection at the second coming. It is not a visit tonight. So if the dead know nothing, feel nothing, and cannot act, then who is crisp blood so seeing? Who is appearing as Mary at Fatima and at Champagne? And who are the people encountering in this abduction cases who look exactly like someone that they buried? Scripture already answers that question in one of its strangest stories. King Saul went to a woman with a gun, and she said, it's a familiar spirit at Endor. And she asked her to bring up Samuel. And the king said unto her, be not afraid, for what saw is thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth. And he said unto her, what form is he of? And she said, an old man cometh up, and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel. The mantle, the voice, the manner, all matched. Scripture never says it actually was Samuel. It says Saul perceived it was. The Bible tells us directly what that decision cost him. So Saul died for his transgression, which he committed against the Lord, even against the word of the Lord, which he kept not. And also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit to inquire of it. Isaiah asked the same question the people should be asking about orbs, abductions, and grieving parents. And he said, I will ask you to bring up Samuel. And he said, I will ask you to bring up And when they shall say unto you, seek unto them that have a familiar spirit, and unto wizards that peep and mutter, should not a people seek unto their God for the living to the dead? Ellen White describes exactly how convincing this counterfeit is allowed to be. Satan has power to bring before men the appearance of their departed friends. The counterfeit is perfect. The familiar look, the words, the tone, are reproduced with marvelous distinctness. I mean, they've had thousands of years to protect this. Read that again with Pasalka's reports. Abductees seeing people who have passed on. Orbs identified as souls in Europe and Japan and being that matches Fatima down to the detail. That is not a coincidence between two unrelated fields of research. That is one description showing up twice. And no marvel, for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. He does not need to invent a new face. He only needs to borrow one you already trust and already miss. If you have had an experience like this yourself and you've used the name of Jesus to end it, I want to hear from you. I have many people that I need to email back that have emailed me and I'm putting together a book specifically on the power of the name of Jesus in supernatural encounters. So go to orionmedia.tv slash contact.

21 Tell me what happened and email me from there. It's not going to give you enough room to write the whole story, but if you email me from there, I'll email you back and you have a chance to tell your story. And of course, I can change your name if you want in the story, but I would like to know your experience. Ellen White ties this whole deception to one more piece, and it is a piece that connects this whole episode to the rest of the channel. Through two great errors, the mortality of the soul and Sunday sacredness, Satan will bring the people under his deceptions. While the former lays the foundation, Satan will bring the people under his deceptions. Satan will bring the of spiritualism, the latter creates a bond of sympathy with Rome. Two errors, not one. The mortality of the soul builds spiritualism, and Sunday sacredness builds sympathy with Rome. This episode has been about the first error, and if you want to see how the second one plays out, go watch our Sunday Law episode because they're already not two separate stories. They are the same deception arriving by two different doors. We are non-profit ministry, which means a donation to us can reduce what you can't.
