Suffering Souls or Symbolic Poetry? The Mystery of Revelation 6:9-10

0:00 3. Souls Under the Altar The story of the rich man and Lazarus is similar to the symbolism found in Revelation 6, 9, and 10. Taken literally, this passage proves to us that the dead souls of the most worthy martyrs are not happy as they are confined to a place under God's altar and in terrible distress. Doesn't sound like a very pleasant reward for the faithful. Instead, I think this is symbolic poetry of Revelation's beasts and monsters are playing out a parable like what God said to Cain, the voice of your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground. We don't believe that the blood of Abel had vocal cords to speak with.
