In this Bible study we open "Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith" and let JD Vance describe, in his own words, what he believes happens after death. He owns his family cemetery in Eastern Kentucky. He goes there to talk to four dead relatives, and he assigns each one a spiritual specialty. He defends the Catholic practice of praying to saints, which he himself calls "consulting dead people." And he states that the dead answer.
Then we take all of it to the law and to the testimony.
This study covers the immortality of the soul, the state of the dead, soul sleep, spiritualism, necromancy, the communion of saints, praying to saints and Mary, Saul and the witch of Endor, the first lie in Genesis 3:4, and the two great errors of Bible prophecy. We show why the immortality of the soul is the foundation spiritualism is built on, why Sunday sacredness is the other half of the same strategy, and how Ellen White described this exact combination in The Great Controversy more than a century ago.
This is a companion study to our video on Sunday laws and blue laws. In the same book, Vance also defends state-enforced sacred days. Both errors, from one man, in one volume, in 2026.
We are not attacking JD Vance. He is a sincere man who was taught a false doctrine at a graveside by people who loved him, and most of Christianity would answer exactly as he does. The doctrine is the target, not the man. But Isaiah 8:20 has no exemption written into it for people we like.
