Let's get right into it tonight. That's fine. I want to get into it. It's good to see you again, man. It's good to be with everybody here live and anybody who's watching the recording. We've got something a little bit different tonight. We're going to do what we normally do. We're going to look at a weird kind of thing that's being pushed.
3:02 But we're going to let... God's Word do a lot of the talking this evening. I've got a lot of different pieces of Scripture that I feel like I just want to talk about. And it pertains to the topic at hand, and I think it's something that, as Christians, these are the things we need to keep in mind. And where I'm at right now, currently where I am in life, I just want to focus on the Word of God. I'm kind of in that mindset right now. So forgive me if it's not as... As a current event-packed, maybe, as you're used to. As I said, we're going to watch a couple of video clips here. But then we're going to dive into the Word, and we're just going to put together... We're going to paint a picture. And I think it's going to be fun. I'm looking forward to your input as well on it, Brad. Yeah, let's get into it. Yeah, without further ado, this first clip is going to introduce this man named Brian Johnson.
4:01 He is a very bold... ...multi-millionaire tech guy, and he wants to, essentially, live forever. You'll see in the interview, he kind of dances around, well, is it live forever, or I just don't want to die? We'll get to that when we get to it. But that's his shtick, essentially. He wants to live forever as he is now. And he's got some ideas as to how that's going to transpire. But... We can just get in here and be introduced to Mr. Johnson. Mr. Johnson. Looks like he should be on Full House. Okay, here we go. Sitting between us will be a man who wants to do the impossible, not die.
4:51 There is no more audacious goal, depending on who you ask. The prospect of using technology to radically increase lifespan is either an act of unbelievable hubris, destined for a... ...flame-out of mythical proportions not seen since Icarus, or a heroic venture that will push humanity to finally conquer nature's final boss, death itself. Brian Johnson made his fortune when he sold his company Braintree to PayPal for $800 million, netting about $300 million for himself. And he's plowed about $2 million a year into creating a system to reverse his metabolic, biological age. He's 46 chronologically, but claims he's de-aged himself biologically following a program he's branded The Blueprint. Brian Johnson, thank you for joining us. Thanks for having me. I appreciate it. Sure. And my first question for you is, it's a little bit past noon Pacific time right now.
5:55 What did you do today? I woke up at 4.30. And I did a few... So I'll give you... I'll give you the specifics. I walked into my bathroom, and I did some UV exposure, 10,000 lux light into my eyes for two to three minutes. What? I measured my internal body temperature with...through my ear. I weighed myself, looking at weight, fat, hydration. I did HRV therapy on my left ear. I did some meditation. I went downstairs. I consumed about 20 pills. I drank a concoction of various nutrients and minerals. I then worked out for an hour, including VO2 max training, which is trying to boost my cardiovascular capacity.
6:48 I then got ready for the day, and I began working. Well, some of those are really good things, except for some are not really good things. So it's really interesting. I've heard of this guy before. It's almost like we've talked about him. Maybe I'd watch a video on him. I don't remember. This is fascinating. So this guy wants to live forever, and he uses meditation along with the health message. That's what I heard out of that whole thing. That's what I call it, the health message. When you do things like, you know, exercise, getting lots of sunlight, which is UV kind of, and all this other stuff, waking up in the morning, water, you know, those are very healthful things.
7:34 Yeah. Eating lots of fruits and vegetables or minerals or pills. Let's only assume that those pills are replacing some of his nutrients. I don't know. But that's really interesting what he's doing. What do you think about it? Yes, he seems to be very regimented. He kind of gives off a Mark Zuckerberg vibe to me, the way he speaks and his delivery. And guys like this who come from the tech industry, they're kind of, it's a trope. They'll treat themselves almost like a machine or a system. And this guy is no different. He gets up and he does this very, very specific stuff. It's almost ritualistic. It's routine-based, but it is, it's ritualistic, especially as we heard, he gets into meditation.
8:24 I don't know the extent of what that meditation is, how long he meditates or what exactly he's meditating on. But I'm going to just venture into it. I'm going to just venture a guess that it would be that classic clear your mind, empty your mind, or maybe focus on your desire. What do you really want? I want to live forever. I want to live forever. Transcendental. Exactly. Having that element in there, I think it's something that whether people know it or not, some people are really big on it and they make that the primary focus. Other people, as you see, will just supplement it in. And if it works for them, it works for them. It benefits. It does whatever they're hoping it will do. I think it's important. If you're going to be so mindful about what you put in your body, you should also be mindful about spiritual practices.
9:18 But this guy, he's pretty focused, I think, more on the physical aspects of it. I would be surprised if he came around and was talking about how there's something spiritual going up in meditation. He's probably going to be like, it reduces your stress levels. It reduces your stress levels to be quiet and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. He's that more kind of a person. However, if you're engaging with the practice, I think there is a bit of a danger to be found. What's up? I think it's interesting, too, because I did a little research on this guy, as well, if it's the same guy. And what I understand is he took every aspect, he did a bunch of studies, and he took elements from every health study and incorporated it. And they said, well, this mineral helps you. This exercise helps you. Or this type of light helps you.
10:06 Or this spiritual practice must help you. He incorporated everything because he wants to live forever. Isn't that the essence of what's going on here? Yes. I think his... I know. It happened. It's okay. Just keep going. The essence of what he's doing, he calls it the blueprint. And it's all about, yeah, health and taking care of, I guess, your body. But it also, like you said, it's whatever it is. He has this whole regimen of vitamins, minerals, supplements that he wants to take in. And it is all based around this desire, this goal that he's really exerting himself towards. And it seems to be kind of like an all-consuming thing, really.
10:55 It's become his life's purpose. Yeah. We can take a look at this next clip because he's going to go a little more in detail here. He's going to get asked a question. And his response is pretty wild. I'm going to pull you up, too, but I'm going to let you fix your camera. So here we go. So I read through some of your book. This is reminding me of a passage from your book, which is called, Don't Die. And the passage that I have highlighted is, you say, we're about to experience an evolutionary transition on a scale rarely seen, a transition whose closest approximation is the changes written by evolution from early hominids two million years ago all the way to humanity today.
11:52 What is that evolutionary transition you're alluding to, and what is driving it? Right. So we now have the ability to engineer existence, including atoms and molecules and organisms, biological systems, our digital reality, computers. We have the ability to engineer almost every layer of existence, from the physical world to our digital world. Now, we haven't yet gotten our ability to do things like complex systems like the weather. We don't have the ability to control that yet. We're working our way up the stack in terms of the complexity we can tackle. And the body is still not entirely known. We're still trying to figure our way out. But we have the basic admin access. We have root level access to the controls of reality.
12:46 And when you have that, and you have on the flip side intelligence that is improving at speeds that are incomprehensible to us, you have the making of a rewrite of existence. You're already following a sort of algorithm that you've put together, but is what you're imagining an algorithm that we don't even fully understand? We just know that it works. So this is what you should follow if you want to live to be 500 years old or something like that. Exactly. You can think of the parallel like the stock market. And so right now, we are in the early days of our bodies. We say, eat this kind of food. Take this kind of supplement. Do this kind of exercise. And sleep this much. As we maintain our body like a stock market, it will be doing real-time transactions on genes and proteins and this biological process.
13:42 And it will be doing these things at a speed that are incomprehensible to us. We won't know exactly what's happening. You're just applying AI to it. At that point, it exceeds our ability. We cannot control things at the genetic level. We have other instruments to do that. And so, yes, it's going to. It's going to basically surpass our level of abstraction and reach. And it's happening right now. It will just be much more robust. And so what Blueprint is is an analog version of an algorithm running me with the tools we have today. But fast forward in some duration of time, and it's a high-speed transaction engine. Every body will be. And it's maintaining a pristine state at all times. Why do you want to live forever? This is the next one. Why do you like it so much? Let me pause it real quick.
14:27 Yeah. Living forever. All right. Pause it right there. That's interesting. I wonder why they got smashed together. But that's interesting that they. I wonder if even the post really knows what he's talking about. Who gets on a program and says we have root level access? How many people know what that means other than IT guys? Obviously, this guy's an IT guy. Nobody says that except an IT guy. So what he's saying is we have direct access. We can change anything we want. We are the super user of this operating system. We call a human body. Someone said he is data from Star Trek. Yeah. He comes across a bit cybernetic. Maybe he's already had some augmentations that you can't see.
15:16 I don't know. I think his whole grasp of it. Let's think about this from our biblical perspective. We're going to get into it because we're going to look at the scriptures. We're going to walk down this road. But just really briefly, this man is trying to avert death. What we know of death is that it is a consequence. Death is the consequence of disobedience to God. You have transgressed God's law. Therefore, the wages of this transgression is your death. I don't believe that any amount of good sleep, vitamins and minerals, exercise or UV light beamed into your eyes is going to avert that inevitability. But there is something.
16:06 We're going to talk about that when we get to the scriptures. That it's a guarantee that you can live forever. And it's a guarantee from someone who never lies. So do you think what's going to happen? It's hard. I have to think of a baiting question about this because I know the answer already. But it's interesting. I wonder if he actually knows or has found something. I'm going to take it to another level real quick and then we'll come back. They've been talking a lot about this in the news lately, how you can live forever. And we've found that essentially we are being broken down from the very time we are born. And we've discovered how we can continue living.
17:00 We've talked a little bit about that on this channel. I know we have. And so it really makes me wonder. And what I believe is we're missing an element, obviously. We're missing something. Element, not just physical element, but that God element. But I wonder what that is that could make us live forever. You want to watch the next clip before we get into that? Yeah, we can. 17:47 Here we go. Let me know if this is not the right one. Okay. Why do you want to live forever? Go ahead. Why do you like it so much? Yeah. Living forever breaks the human brain. Our brains cannot compute the concept of forever. The concept we can understand is living tomorrow. And those two ideas are basically the same. There's no difference. And so you probably have things you want to do tomorrow. I do too. And when tomorrow arrives, I'm imagining I'm going to have things the next day I'm going to want to do. And so it's really the framework I use. I don't say I want to live forever. I say I want to live tomorrow. Is there, you know, but you are putting out, you know, books called don't die.
18:39 And at least like floating this idea that we could have radically longer lifespans. Is all this sort of lifestyle stuff likely to move the needle in terms of radical life extension? Or is it ultimately going to be some sort of genetic? Engineering or even, you know, kind of merging our bodies with machines to make them more durable? Don't die is very different than live forever. Don't die is is the most played game by every human on planet Earth every second of every day. Don't die is played more than capitalism. It's played more than any religion. It's played more than any other construct on this planet. Humans don't want to die. And the future is simply getting really, really good at not dying, just like we have been over the past few centuries.
19:32 So if you think about it in the terms of economics, there's the die economy, things that people do that increase the speed of aging and death, fast food, junk food, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption. Then there's the don't die economy, seatbelts, smoke detectors, clean water supply. So we're already playing don't die. This is not a novel concept. And we're playing it with increasingly more amount of money. And what I'm suggesting is. So to put this into proper context. Imagine we go back a million years and we hang out with Homo erectus. Homo erectus, where's food? Homo erectus has an ax in their hand. We say, where's food? Where's shelter? Where's danger? We listen to those three answers. That person has information we don't. And then we say, Homo erectus, tell us about the future of the species. And we laugh.
20:18 We do not expect Homo erectus to tell us about anything about the modern world. That would be insane. And now in this moment. We are looking at intelligence in the form of AI. That is very, very, very, very soon going to be a million, if not a billion times smarter than we are. We're essentially Homo erectus in this situation. We can say absolutely nothing about the future. The only thing I can say about the future is I don't want to die. I'm willing to play the game of what's going to come. Now, it may be terrible. It may be great. I don't know. But I want to be around for it. It could be the most spectacular existence in this part of the galaxy. And so whether, you know, whether the things I do are actually extend life beyond some number, it really doesn't matter. The thing that matters is as a species, we are sober and wise enough to realize this moment we're in.
21:06 But we're going to probably experience the equivalent of a million years of evolution in a decade or two. Okay. So I had to look it up. I'm not too versed in the evolutionary process. But Homo erectus is the apparently previous. According to the lore, the previous human thing. The thing that was standing on all two feet before it became human, I guess. It's the middle thing that's missing on Earth. And nobody can figure out why that thing is missing. I don't know. It must be here somewhere. Yeah. Anyways, I had to look it up. Right. Yeah. So you're talking about the evolutionary process.
21:55 There's a lot of that thinking. Obviously, we've kind of touched on that before. But different people, you just hear it time and time again. Evolution, I think, has really tainted the mind of modern man. Yeah. Because it is. It's like you're saying. It's hinging on. It's a theory. A theory of evolution. And there are a lot of holes. There's a lot of missing information. And there's a lot of assumptions, too. That things that we observe in nature. That we classify as adaptations. Can suddenly be classified into evolutions. And they call them like microevolutions and macroevolutions. And when it's a macroevolution, you're jumping all the way from a hamster to a deer. It's like it all hinges on this idea that also survival of the fittest. That it's like there's a constant war going on.
22:45 And that you're rewarded for being vicious and being more brutal. Than the other guy. All that's being put in there. And then there's also this whole idea that we have the artificial intelligence again coming through. And he says that there's going to be a massive evolution. We're going to have thousands of years of evolution condensed within the next couple of decades. Wow. That time frame to me is. I mean. The amount of people who have a lot of money. And have influence. And take seriously the affairs of the world. Time and time again. I just keep on hearing about how much things are going to change within our lifetimes.
23:34 Within this generation. We're going to see something so radical. So different. And you're not going to be able to recognize humanity. When it comes out the other end of this tunnel. And I. Go ahead, Brad. No. I don't want to jump. I don't want to steal your thunder. If you're going the direction I'm going to go next. No. What direction are you heading in, man? So it's interesting. Because there's. As we go over. You know. I have the. For the last two years. We've been going over this. This idea. That spiritualism is going to become a big part suddenly. In the world. In the form of. What they think. What they are going to claim to be is extraterrestrial. What. If you dig into the lore. What the lore says. The UFO lore. It says that.
24:19 There's going to be a time. Where suddenly. Sudden changes. Appear to happen. And this new. Age of Aquarius. You know. The whole new age. Style. Happens. Where we. Shift from a 3D dimension. To a 4D dimension. Which. Just. Not even going to go there. But. I. I think. We're going to see some amazing things. But it's going to be a complete lie. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. To say the truth. According to what. The bible says. Hm. Yes. And it's going to satisfy. Uh. The entire world. It's going to satisfy those. Age of Aquarius. Spiritual. New agers. But it's also going to satisfy a guy like. This. This techy multi-millionaire.
25:04 Who's been pouring research into it. And he wants. Raw. Data. You know. I think. That when the deception comes. There's going to be no shortage. Of scientists. Medical. Professionals. People who know things, okay? People who have degrees and people who have studied this for much longer than you and they know much better than you. And they're going to tell you what decision you should be making and what you should not be saying and what you should not be doing. And I believe there will be – we're seeing it put into place, people. The things that I'm talking about I don't think are very far-fetched at all because they are present. We talk about misinformation being spread. How many times do we hear about the dangers of misinformation? Eventually, you calling this deception what it is and saying that this is Satan on earth trying to deceive everyone and that Jesus is coming, that is going to be labeled as misinformation.
26:04 And there is going to be, like I said, data to back up the other side. Well, look at this. We can measure. We took the hemoglobin. We took the hemoglobin out of this guy that they touched miraculously and we can't find a single trace of imperfection. I mean, as it stands, this guy is going to live forever. He's been given eternal life. Just like Jesus said he's going to give someone eternal life, right? This guy's got eternal life by all of our metrics. Look at the medical data that we have here. I think we're going to see stuff like that. It's going to be so – the deception will be so thick. It's going to cover so many bases that really – The only way – it's described in the Bible, the elect, those who walk with God, those who have that relationship with God and they know not to be deceived because he has warned us ahead of time.
26:57 It's not like there's something super special about us. It's just God has spoken and we have chosen to listen to him. And because we're doing that, God has given us an abundant amount of warnings. He's told us things that we – what we're to expect. And it just becomes, to me, when I look at this stuff, it's so obvious. And at one point, I was seeing without seeing and I was hearing without hearing. But it's only through like this miraculous lifting of the scales that anybody manages to see it for what it is and just say, yeah, okay. But again, it just proves God to be true. At the end of the day, all of this stuff just proves him to be true. There was one clip, and I don't know if you can fish it out. It's called Algorithm Will Keep You Alive. It may have gotten tied with – Okay, so if we can watch that one too because, again, this is the reliance on technology to give us eternal life.

Because I'm not sure if... I know for a fact we're not going to ever live forever unless God allows it. And he's not going to allow everyone to live forever. And I wonder... And this is pure speculation. But I wonder if... If we would figure it out someday. I mean, after all... During the flood... God said, let's scatter them. Let's break them apart. Because if we don't, nothing is impossible for them. I'm paraphrasing that. But he says, you know, it's not going to be impossible for them to do hardly anything. I'd find the exact quote. And I'll do that here in a moment. But... Um...
30:43 So, I think he'll cut it short. I think he... Because it would be terrible for a sinful world to live forever. Can you imagine not only living forever, but also continuing in the sin... And what I mean by sin, for those who don't understand what I'm saying, is the things that cause us as humans to do and hurt other people as well as ourselves. Can you imagine if that continued? It would be awful. It would be awful. It's not a world I'd want to live in. That's why the only eternal life I want is the eternal life that is being offered by Jesus Christ. Because it comes with... It's not just eternal life. It's eternal life free from sin and free from pain and suffering and sorrow. And you're living in a world that you really are meant to be living in and enjoying fully the communion of God.
31:39 God is dwelling with you. It's not a terrible... Godless world. And I think that, once again, let's look at Satan who has to counterfeit what God has. He has to fulfill the expectations. People, like you said, we've got these expectations that, well, the sinful can't dwell with the righteous, right? Like, that can't happen. I think that, eventually, woe to those who put evil for good and good for evil when God's people are labeled public enemy number one, that is what goes out. There is that death decree. Put them to death. They have not accepted the mark. Therefore, they are the sinners in our perfect world. And once we remove them, we can all join hands and cry, peace, peace, at last, because they are the final obstacle standing in the way of our utopia, of our paradise.
32:37 Because they have their God dwelling with them on earth. Just think about it. It's the dark... It's the dark inversion of everything that God has promised. And it's funny because God's so powerful. He's like, yeah, you know what, Satan? You can have it first for a very limited time. You can have it first. But then, I am going to come. Vengeance is mine. And I will have my government established for all time. And I will completely topple yours. And demonstrate, really, why you are not worthy to exalt your throne above me. Because you are the father of all lies. He's the chief sinner. And he must be dealt with. He has to be put away for all time. So, it's time for us to look into this.
33:30 Because the question of eternal life, it isn't just being asked by this guy. It has been asked throughout the ages. I think humanity knows about death, obviously. I mean, we watch each other die. Animals die. It's an ugly thing. And it feels very unnatural. And I think there's a reason for that. Because it is unnatural. It goes against the proper order of things. But before we start really looking into this, I have a little verse from Isaiah here. So, if you want to bring up the very first of my slides here. My nice scripture slides. Whom shall he... teach knowledge? And whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk and drawn from the breasts.
34:21 For precept must be upon precept. Precept upon precept. Line upon line. Line upon line. Here a little. And there a little. This is a great template for how to read scripture. To learn scripture. And not only to learn it, but I believe to preach it. To evangelize and share the gospel. Now, you don't want to overload people, obviously. I think there is such a thing that you could start giving people verse after verse after verse. And it's more than they can handle. There's a reason even here where I was talking about those who are weaned from the milk and drawn from the breast. It's when you're a little baby and being breastfed, your stomach is very tiny. There's only so much you can take. I remember when we had our first born.
35:11 We were in the hospital. And my wife, she was very determined. She had a really, we had a tough time with that birth. That's a story for a whole nother day. But she wasn't able to provide, I guess, like a ton of milk. And there was a nurse and she was kind of nasty. And she shamed my wife to be like, oh, is that all? Like, that's all you've got? Yeah, just try the formula or whatever. Stick with that. Well, I tried the formula for my son and he was rejecting it. He's throwing it up and he doesn't want to take what we're giving him. Well, we come to realize because we just stuck with the breastfeeding and eventually took and there was no problems, but his stomach was so small. He's just this little tiny bitty baby, you know, and he doesn't need a lot. He doesn't need a whole big vial full of formula or even breast milk. He just needs enough to be satiated.
36:06 So here, when you are drawn from it, when you're weaned from that milk and you're ready to sit down. For a meal, this is how you go about eating that meal, precept upon precept. Now, you might be asking yourself, what is a precept? Well, the definition of precept is that it is a general rule that dictates behavior and thought. So the Bible is filled with precepts, these rules, and they're all, if you think about a building, right, how there's just blocks on top of blocks stacked together. That's what your faith should be. It should be this really sturdy house that's built upon a rock and you should have an explanation biblically for everything you believe. If you have a rule that you go by spiritually and you say this, I believe in this, I think it's imperative that you should have a Bible verse you can open up to point to it and say, it's because the word says this. I think it's always going. God appreciates honesty and he appreciates you to stand.
37:12 And say, here's what I believe. And it's like, well, why do you believe it? Thus sayeth the Lord, right? Not I say it. That's why I believe it. Not some guy I know says it or, you know, I heard it one time on the radio and it sounded good. Oh, I wish I could get that quote for you, but I can't get it. No, you should have this ready to roll. So that being said, we're going to go precept upon precept here. And we're going to look at first death. Before we get into eternal life. Okay. Yep. Anything you want to talk about, Brad? Well, I just want to say real quick, Eugene, in the chat, I hear you. I understand what you're saying. And email me because there's a major misunderstanding about what is being said here. And I'll clarify it for you, but it's way beyond the scope of what we're doing tonight.
38:04 Just know our focus is to read the Bible, the whole Bible, read it, the entire thing. You are to understand it. That's our main goal. So yeah, go on. Let's go on to the next section. But email me, Eugene. Yes, I don't think that this is, I believe this is the way that you're supposed to study the scriptures. Let's continue. Could read the entirety of Isaiah 28, just for the context, because it is nice. Read all of these chapters, go back and read them and enjoy them. But first we're going to look at, this is the mentioning of death. So where is death entering into the picture? And the human family is going to encounter death. And the Lord God commanded the man saying of every tree of the garden, thou mayest freely eat, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it.
38:59 For in the day that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die. God lays it out. He's saying that there are limits. There are limits here. And this specific, like you can do all of these things, this is the permissions, but there is one thing that is off the table and that is eating out of the tree of good and evil. And the punishment for this is going to be death. So God's commandment is out there and he's also putting out the expectation. This is what I want you to do. And he's also telling you there's a consequence should you choose against it. Pretty clear? Yeah. So we go to the next one. Any input, Brad, that you have, just please do share. So this is after the fruit has been eaten and God is explaining to Adam, in the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread till thou return unto the ground.
40:00 For out of it was thou taken. For dust thou art and unto dust shalt thou return. This is the first. Very expressive description of what death will be like. And I think it's important that we see this and acknowledge it for what it is. God is saying that you're going to return to dust. He's not necessarily saying, Adam, you will die and you'll come before my throne for judgment and your destination will be determined then and there. He's also not saying that you're going to be in a limbo place. He's not saying you're going to Abraham's bosom or whatever pre-Abraham's bosom there might be. He is just straight out saying you were taken out of dust and you're going back to dust.
40:54 So what you were when I took you out of the dust, you were nothingness. You were just dust. You're going to go and regress back into dust. And this is the punishment for disobeying the commandment. What do you think, Brad? That's exactly what I was going to say. And we were thinking along the same exact terms. He's saying exactly what's going to happen. He's not saying there's a spirit that comes out of you and that you float around somewhere. He's saying, hey, you're dead. You're done until I return. I mean, later he goes into the details about what happens afterwards. But right now it's, hey, you're going to die and dust you will become. And you've said it perfectly. All right. All right.

It ties into Adam and what happened there with Adam. So in first John three, four, we read whosoever committed sin transgress it also the law for sin is the transgression of the law. And then in Romans 623. Okay. You read for the wages of sin is death. But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord. And this is this is where we also have that juxtaposition here. We have the wages of sin being death. And then we also have a gift coming from God.

You ask them what is sin and they will give you any old definition, right? It's missing the mark. It's like it's like shooting an arrow and this some ethereal conclusion out of that. Yeah. Yep. I've heard that's that's a common one is that sin is missing the mark. Yes. I've also actually, you know, what's funny, I didn't prepare it, but I have it right here because in the catechism, ex-Catholic here and in the catechism, it defines sin is sin is an offense against reason, truth and right conscience.
43:27 What? So that and it goes into detail about a little more. But the important thing here is that they don't quote from the Bible when they're talking about what the definition of sin is. By the way, that is a very subjective. Right. Subjective thing. Right. You know, whose reason? Who? Who? Truth by what definition? Right. Whose conscience are we talking about here? This is a it's paramount. So instead of playing these mind games and running ourselves around in circles, let's just go to the Bible. Does the if the Bible provides a definition for something, use that definition. It has become so much easier for me any time I had because you can do this. I'm guilty of it. I'm guilty of it, too. I'm a thinker. I'm a guy. I'll run myself around in circles thinking thoughts. But when the Bible lays it out so clearly, I can just put it to rest and say, ah, perfect.

I think it's fascinating that this verse is pulled out of the New Testament. We're not talking about some Old Testament. Oh, that's done. Done away with, or whatever people say. This is after Jesus is dead, risen, I mean, died, rose back to life, went to heaven. This is after all that. This is one of the last books right before Revelation. So, when we're talking about later on, this is what they believed. That sin is still the transgression of the law. It's still...

And the Bible's whole point is to get rid of sin. So, really, baby Christians, what you should be asking yourself is, number one, what is the point of the Bible? And we just defined it for you. To get rid of sin. To get rid of sin. That's what Jesus did on the cross. He's getting rid of... It's a process outlined in the sanctuary. And so, what he's taking is getting rid of that sin and doing away with it. That's the last... In Revelation, we talk about that. It talks about that completely. The last thing to get rid of it is death.

We read Revelation 20, and I believe in one of Paul's letters, he also writes that death is the final enemy to be defeated. And you actually see that play out. And why is death the last thing? It's because death was caused by sin. And we just read that. You know, you're gonna die, Adam, because you sinned. So, what are we getting rid of? Death. Well, why did death go away? Because sin quit. And so, he gets rid of the... Not that we can't sin anymore. But that we don't want to, because we're given that heart that decides that we don't want to do it anymore. And it's using a lot of figurative language.
46:43 I always hated it growing up as a Christian and when I was a baby Christian, and hearing all these words and phrases and cliches from the pulpit like, you don't have the right heart. What does that even mean? He's got a surgeon? Well, kind of. But he's not literally. And I think we get wrapped up in that as children. But as you read the Bible and you hear the different phrases used, you're like, okay, I kind of understand that better. He's giving you a different mindset. And you're gonna want to do that mindset. So, I think that's the difference. Right. And that mindset too, it's funny because we just listened to that guy who has this regimen and these routines. And this is the path he's taking to have eternal life.
47:30 Well, God is saying, eternal life, if this is something you want, the expectation for you is laid out. This is the kind of person who inherits eternal life. And it's not to say that you're gonna... Also, it's funny. In 1 John, there's more scripture that talks about everyone has sinned. And if a man says that he is without sin, he's a liar. So, you can't say, oh, I've kept the commandments perfectly. There was a guy who said that to Jesus. He said, no, I've kept all the... We're talking about specifically the 10 commandments that God laid out, the law of God. Not something that Moses and Israel came together and they had to have more regulations put into place because they took on themselves a covenant that they could not keep.
48:19 They said, when God said, yeah, here's my 10 commandments, they said, oh, great, 10 commandments. Yeah, we got it. We'll keep them. No problem. Got it. Yeah. Don't worry about it, God. And he's just like, right away, right there, you've already broken one of the commandments. You just bore false witness. You just lied to me because you're not keeping these 10 commandments. So, you're busted. And that's what it takes when there's a new covenant that comes in the form of Jesus Christ, the man who fulfilled that law, the man who is without sin, never transgressed the law of God. He lived perfectly in harmony with all 10 of the commandments and died without breaking a single one. We're going to get into that too, because the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and how he has opened the door, the door, he is the way, is phenomenal.
49:16 It's the only hope we have. There's no amount of dietary pills you can take that's going to make you last, last eternally. But let's, let's look and see some of the words. This is some of the words of Jesus, actually. I got some, got some good, good verses here. And Jesus, when he was, he was addressing a crowd here, he told them, search the scriptures for in them ye think ye have eternal life. And they are they that testify of me and ye will not come to me that ye might have life. So breaking this down, right? Just, it's funny because I remember I was actually talking to somebody and he brought up this verse and he said, yeah, Jesus, didn't he rebuke people for searching the scriptures?
50:07 He said, you think you have eternal life in them? Well, I was like, what did the, what's the full verse? Like, let's, let's look at it and see. He said that the scriptures testify of him. We get to know Jesus Christ through reading the scriptures. And that is where the eternal life lies. So there is eternal life in the scriptures, but getting eternal life doesn't mean that I read the scriptures. Okay. I've got eternal life. No, I read the scriptures. I learned Jesus Christ. I know him. I'm developing a relationship with him. I know his character. I know his expectations. That is eternal life. Having faith in Jesus Christ and to have that fullness of faith in Jesus Christ, you do need to search the scriptures. You do need to understand who he is. Who he is and what he means.
50:56 And then he goes on to say, and you will not come to me that he might have life. So right there, you see, how do we have life? We have it through Jesus Christ. And, and this rebuke, he's telling them, if you look in the scriptures, you're, they're talking about me. You should be able to see me in the scriptures. You should, they're, they're saying, you've got a devil. He's a terrible guy. Oh, he's healing people on the Sabbath. Oh man, he's healing people on the Sabbath. Gotta be the son of the devil. What, what are you talking about? You know, look and see what Moses said. See, that's specifically who he references in John five. He says that, that you believe Moses and that you should understand. 1:00:18 it but it's becoming more and more something that i have to unravel and i'm going to be reading it i think multiple times just this year and listening to it because i really want to get a good handle on this book that's the book of isaiah we'll take a look at this next little thing from it so isaiah 53 uh i i i'm just going to say if you haven't read isaiah 53 if there's like anything that you can read tonight read isaiah 53 and i'm going to give you an example of example of when you read isaiah 53. 153 if you haven't read it recently or if you're not very familiar with it all because it is in the Old Testament and what it is describing is Jesus Christ before Matthew Mark Luke and John and This is what was foretold. This is why Jesus imploring people to read the Gospels and have an understanding of it You should know there should be an expectation because God set it up beforehand and look at this description of the Messiah but He was wounded for our transgressions He was bruised for our iniquities the chastisement of our peace was upon him and with his stripes We are healed all we like sheep have gone astray We have turned every one to his own way and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all that's a Just that's just Jesus Christ To a tee who else does this describe? There is no other other man that this describes Now if you go on and read some more of Isaiah, it'll even go into more detail about it. It's just It pins it down as Jesus Christ But right here we see this is the way that your sins are Forgiven through the shed blood of Jesus Christ the man without sin He he wasn't wounded on his own behalf it wasn't just because oh some guys got angry at him and they they seized him and they killed him yeah that that played a factor in it but the reason for his crucifixion and death is because him dying on that cross without having committed a single sin was the perfect sacrifice it was the perfect death a death that could take the place of all other deaths and this this is it this is the the payment the wiping away of uh of your sin debt and this is how you can enter into eternal life that's why he has it to to gift you yeah and there's nothing you can do for jesus to uh to to get it out of him it's not like jesus is going to uh to extract the toll from you because he's the one who paid the toll yeah it's also it's moving here when we see everyone uh has turned into their own way and uh we're like sheep that have gone astray he's the good shepherd right he's uh we shouldn't be turning into our own ways we should be turning onto the way of god and i do think that there's a uniqueness in that i mean god created you as a it's a very special way of being a good shepherd he's a special individual he desires relationship and he wants that unique relationship with all of his creation so seeing here that you've gone into your own way you're turning your back to god you're you're saying what you have planned there's this relationship and i'm not going to go through with it i think following god is actually uh it's very fulfilling it's not something that is a burden and you don't feel like you're chained to god and you're dragging him around like oh man i i regret this decision to follow this guy because oh it's just it's so awful yeah you're gonna have some you are going to have some hardships i believe that otherwise you wouldn't but you know guess what nobody gets out of here in this life without some hardship and i would rather have hardship due to a relationship with god than me going my own way me being a stray shepherd and i'm not going to go through with it i'm not going to go through with it i'm not going to and falling into the ditch now i i would rather the poachers come and say oh get him he belongs to the good shepherd okay it reminds me of the verse i forget what it is matthew 11 um come to me all you are weary and have you already said this because i i uh i'm i'm managing
1:05:01 a bunch of behind the scenes stuff so i might not have heard you you say this but at the end it says my yoke is easy and my burden is light yeah exactly that is exactly what i'm talking about when i say that you're never going to be dragging around god like a uh like a big ball on chain no it is as easy and it is light and the truth is you're gonna be yoked yoke by the way uh if you look at ox who are plowing a field that big thing on their shoulders that is the yoke they are yoked to the plow so when jesus is saying that his as yoke is easy and his burden is light that means it's a burden that's light and you're not going to feel like i'm i'm carrying around and the yoke is easy it's not weighing on my shoulders it's not pushing me down it's i'm able to move i'm able to walk i'm able to be free you are going to be yoked whether you want to be or not so the yoke of god is the best one you can possibly have all other ones are going to be heavier de facto guaranteed we can uh we can go on if you would like to here in uh here in hebrews we see kind of this full realization right of of jesus he's he's died on the cross and what do we have here i i love this description of him seeing then that we have a great high priest that has passed into the heavens jesus the son of god let us hold fast to our profession for we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities but was an all points tempted like as we are yet without sin jesus as the high priest that that position it's like when you think about jesus there's so many different ways honestly i can think about him painted through the scriptures because there is this very humble man who's walking the streets and he's almost innocuous uh yeah he goes up and he heals a blind man and the blind man is even saying i don't know i don't know who healed me and jesus is waiting for him outside of the temple and and he doesn't know it's jesus standing in front of this guy who healed you so there's a very humble uh aspect that i think about jesus but when i think about jesus as a high priest okay so like i said having been a uh an ex-catholic right and i used to go to catholic mass very regularly and when the priest was doing certain things it's like you better you better have your eyes on the priest that's the moment where you know the old grandma is going to be slapping the grandkid in the back of the head because he's saying certain things he's doing certain stuff and it's important and you better acknowledge him so when i think about jesus as a high priest it's like that on a whole nother level every movement that jesus makes is graceful it is purposeful every single thing he's doing is there's meaning behind it there's not a single ounce of carelessness or thoughtlessness it's uh he's going through this procession and he's doing it perfectly and he's doing it for our benefit because he he's without sin even the high priests of israel they still had sin they still needed the intercession of god the there but this is a high priest without sin so he was doing it totally selflessly and doing it for his people yeah i i don't i don't have i'm i'm i'm managing a couple things continue continue well we can continue on and we're good we've got some more words of jesus here and uh this is no so now i want to get into the resurrection the idea of the resurrection because there is death right jesus has paid for the your sins but there are still people who have died people who had good faith in jesus so what's the deal they're dead right shouldn't they be alive they shouldn't be dead jesus paid for for the sins that this isn't making sense what's happening here uh you know could be faltering well check this out we're going to study a little bit about the resurrection here marvel not at this for the hour is coming in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice and shall come
1:09:38 forth they that have done good unto the resurrection of life and they that have done evil they shall see this resurrection as the resurrection of it's a dead were raised and the rest of the dead the only people who are dead at that point in time in revelation 20 are the wicked so they're being resurrected those who have done evil unto the resurrection of damnation and those who have done good under the resurrection of life so there should be a really excited hopeful anticipation of the resurrection of life the same way that jesus resurrected and we're going to read here in the next couple of verses about a about a particular resurrection that was done on earth for jesus's friend lazarus that is part of our hope that if your good friend in christ or your family member in christ dies that jesus has already made this provision he has said that there is this coming hour and there is going to be a resurrection for that person they will live again they are dead currently that's very sad we don't like death death is unnatural death is something that entered in and it really had no business being there but he is saying they will overcome death through me because i'm going to resurrect them praise god yeah and and uh death is just a temporary thing i mean because if you're in christ because you will eventually become a part of his kingdom again soon that death to the ground will become a living soul again and so that's huge that is huge that um yeah john's putting that stuff together well how temporary is death we're gonna we're gonna talk about the temporary state of death and uh in these next verses because like i said we're gonna we're gonna talk about this this story this particular story from john these things uh said he says eat me and though when his wife died he said be with me oh i cannot be with you Jesus said bone and bone they were both teeth they could make you a nobody because if you think you're not by your life too much i may say good miracle before this day Jesus said being habilitated lay no sin you know y equity aAPe Brad, you got something to say about this? No, no, yeah. He's just laying it out there. I mean, he's going to... I mean, his title is confused. Again, if he's asleep, then he'll wake up. No, no, no. You don't understand. Lazarus is dead. But I'm equating it to asleep because it's temporary.
1:13:04 I can wake him up. Poor Lazarus. He didn't even... So many people believe that he gets back from heaven. And he wasn't very frustrated about that. I mean, sure, all the news reporters, all the gossip chains would come to him and say, tell us, like, what it was in heaven. What'd you do there? What was it like for a few seconds, a few, I don't know, hours, days that you were up there? Three days, I think, he was dead, right? It stank. And what'd you do in those three days? I mean, that would be something that I think the Bible would capitalize on at this point because then that would prove that... Heaven was for real. You've got to remember that back then, the Sadducees did not believe in a resurrection. And so to say, well, there's going to be a resurrection and there's a real heaven and there's all this other stuff and Lazarus saw it, it doesn't say anything about that.

One second, I was really, really sick. And the next... The next second, I heard Jesus say to rise up and I got up and he was out there and I was covered in these weird bandages all over my body. They were getting ready to bury me. And I came out and it's like, that doesn't make for the Hollywood story that people would want. You know, they might call Lazarus a faker. They might get upset. They might doubt because it doesn't meet the expectation they have, even if that expectation isn't necessarily based on the biblical accounts. And I think here, another thing that you can see, it's right smack dab in the middle. How be it? Jesus spake of his death. So make no mistakes. Even John here, when he's writing and reflecting on it, you know, he's one of the disciples. So they're all kind of shaking their heads in agreement.

Because I imagine they don't think he's just sleeping like he's taking a nap because you don't make that mistake. You could shake somebody and get them up if you need. But yeah, maybe he's just, he's asleep. He's not dead yet. How be it? Jesus spake of his death. It's like right there. It's defined. Jesus calling death a sleep and then goes even further and plainly says to them that he is dead. So it's a sleep to Jesus. And it's like, okay, we've all experienced sleep, right? Every single person that's watching right now has experienced sleep. You're going to do some sleeping within the next 24 hours, unless, you know, you've got a lot to do. Or you have sleep problems or something like that. Are you afraid of taking that to going to sleep?
1:15:45 You shouldn't be. Yeah. And do you have an expectation that you wake up? Yeah, reasonably you do. This is the type of attitude we can adopt towards death. How cool is that? I think that's really exciting. Yeah. Death, death for me, it lost a lot of its sting when I realized the whole idea behind the resurrection. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's kind of weird because it's like, I'm going to be floating up, up, up, dragged away from my loved ones. They're going to be crying and sobbing. I want to give them a hug. I want to pat them on the back. I want to say, it's okay. Don't worry. And then the entire time I'm up in heaven and I'm watching them struggle and things go wrong and all this type of stuff. Yeah. There's a whole, like when you start getting into that whole idea, that mindset of this is what my expectation of death is, it comes with a lot of, okay, and what, and what, and what? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There's so much going on. There's so much going on and there really isn't any information on the Bible in the Bible that is going to support what you're doing in your dead state because time and time again, when I read about death in the Bible, it is like finality.
1:16:53 You're dead. You're done. The only reason that this death is not final is because Jesus has the power of resurrection, which further on in this chapter, we're going to read. So let's pull up these next verses. Jesus saith unto her, he's talking to Martha now. Who is the sister of Lazarus saying thy brother shall rise again and Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. So Martha has this expectation. She says, yeah, I know he's dead, but there is going to be the last day where the resurrection takes place. Total anticipation. We have to, we have to assume that Martha too, isn't like some type of radical person who alone is holding this belief. And no one else says, this is like, this has got to be the common belief. This is what is taught. And this is what is understood. Unless like you were saying, Brad, you have some sect like the Sadducees who are rejecting and they get into a whole bunch of arguments with everybody else about what the scriptures say.
1:17:57 And now Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life. He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never. Die. Believest thou this, this verse in particular, I think can be tricky because I've had people quote this verse at me when I say, uh, when you're dead, you're essentially, you're unconscious until Jesus resurrects you. That's that's the deal here, uh, cause they'll say, whoa, whoa, whoa, right here. Jesus said, and whoever, and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. So you can't be dead because Jesus said that you'll never die. Let's. Let's look at the entirety of the chapter. What did we just read? Jesus was talking about death as a sleep.
1:18:47 It is a temporary intermittent period between the got life on one side asleep and he got life on the other. That's what it looks like. It's not something that you're not dead. Technically to Jesus is like, no, you're not dead because you're just asleep. I'm going to raise you up. If you were dead, there would be no raising for you. There would be no life to come. Yeah. You don't have to anticipate this. And even here, I mean, in this very verse, he is saying that though he were dead yet shall he live. So there's a contrast there between being alive and being dead. Though you were dead, you shall live. Not though you are dead yet you still live. It's you shall live. There is an anticipation and expectation of living again.

I love it because people get hung up on a few of these verses and they shouldn't because if you really know what they're trying to say and you're really breeding in the context, it makes a whole lot of sense. The Bible congeals into itself. Not necessarily just take it at face value. It's a huge thing. Yeah. Very important. I've got some more stories. got some more scripture here I do another quote from Jesus I think this is a an important thing because it ties into the the resurrections we had talked about there's two resurrections we're discussing the resurrection Lazarus it's like this is good we're focused on the one resurrection because Lazarus is a friend of Jesus so he's going to the resurrection of life correct there's also one that is a is not good you don't want to be in that resurrection well let's read this piece of scripture here that is from Matthew and fear not them which killed the body but are not able to kill the soul but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell so there is a destruction in hell the soul and the body now when you see soul the soul is the it's the organisation to which the soul is attached or that it would be所 entire it's the sum of a human being you know and if you look at it mathematically it's when god took the dust of the earth and he breathed the spirit into the nostrils and then boom you have a man became a living soul at that point so if they kill the body essentially what's happening is the dust has been killed now the the spirit of god that's that's still there you know it's it's going to return to god but it doesn't mean that you as that being are returning to god because you are a cure your uh what the correct what would the term be uh help me out here it's the chemistry term you're like a compound compound yeah you're like a compound element you need both of these things so what ends up happening is you're like a compound element you need both of these things up happening when you look in hell it's the body and the soul it's the entirety of your being you get destroyed it's god is going to hit the delete button on sin it's like when you have someone who can create and had really truly has the power of creation he also has the power of destruction that's why he's described as a consuming fire yeah we see that he has the power to undo unmake whatever he has made and that's what's going to happen yeah for those who choose against him yeah yeah that's 100 right after that he uh uh the soul uh which is just exactly what you said a combination just like a light bulb that's what i like to use a light bulb where does the light go when you separate it left from electricity where does it go well it must be floating in the air somewhere right that's the idea that we get from the soul no light can't exist without the connection to the power and so as our body is the bulb itself and the god is the uh energy that flows to the light bulb we have to have the body and the power from god in order to make a complete soul right and that's and yeah we related to what's being said here the destruction of the the body and soul it's like all those two elements are going to be destroyed and then we're going to have to make a complete soul and then we're going to have to make a complete soul are going away there's no chance that you're going going to be alive again because god is setting down it's the it's your final judgment it's to say you will you will pay the wages of your sin which is death it is not you're going to stay alive now and you're going to experience pain that you've never imagined and you're going to experience it for all eternity that is the wages of your sin no god is very clear he said he said it up there's an expectation for the people who want to enter into eternal life and the people who are eventually going to suffer the wrath of god it's all there he's not keeping anything secret it's very plain and laid out it's up to us to just read it and you can ask the question do i believe what's being said here do i trust the god that has inspired this this book and these writings and when i reach out in prayer do i have faith that he hears me and that he's honest and true and good and this is the relationship aspect even things like this it's stuff like i said earlier on it's your faith that's got all these blocks in it so really examine each thing that you believe in and test it against the word of god be as impartial as you possibly can pray for impartiality
1:25:23 really pray for the holy spirit to lead you into truth and to understand what is there and and go from there like i tell people to do that and i really don't worry because i have no that's part of my faith in god i have faith that if the people if people are making this effort to have a relationship with god and learn about the scriptures that he will do that for them yeah he did it for me and i don't think that i'm all that special at all so you're special matthew no yeah i'm special god died for me so it does make me special and honestly does that's that's our value i mean it's the the death of god right uh let's see and then i just wanted to include this because i feel like this wraps it up so nicely and it's one of the most quoted i think the most quoted uh thing out of the bible and it goes like this for god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life amen yeah and i like that because that also shows i mean right there that whosoever believeth in him should not perish should not die what what happens a lot of people believe that once you die you don't actually die you just kind of float around somewhere without your body no it says so that we don't perish we are done i mean we we die we die it's it's over it's not like uh we trans we transcend into some new type of being that's better than our mortal bodies that's not what happens at all why would someone die in their sin and then be something better than they were before i think everyone would want to immediately die if you could float around somewhere and and talk to anybody and be invisible and manipulate stuff that's better than being human i don't believe that at all right well yes i think that's just uh it's it's everything that we talked about you know it has to do with that bodily resurrection as well and uh and believing that's how it's going to go down but what i like about this verse is this beginning part for god so loved the world it's like okay there's so much that we can get out of just reading about jesus christ and his character and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and and uh we can we can know how to live we can also know about a lot about god because and i see this a lot and and kind of new ager people and uh in general when they talk about god they talk about god being so big so powerful so vast oh there's no way if there's a god he forgot about us a long time ago or uh we're just we're too insignificant no no no like what is this saying that he so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son there is love for you from god that's amazing it's like okay if he's if he's really that powerful this is what i've come to the conclusion of if god is that powerful he's eternally powerful and can do everything then he has more capacity to love you than anyone else yeah ever could or ever will it's not a matter of he's so powerful that he's so detached it's actually he's so powerful that he is so attached he's so invested because he has that capability that truly no one else can yeah and that's the love of god and i pray that everybody does experience the love of god here in our chat those that we uh discuss on the show whether we agree with them or not i do i think that the new earth have new heaven new earth it's going to be a beautiful place it's going to be a wonderful place and i'm really looking forward to experiencing the love of god and the love of my fellow man nah it's really it's going to be amazing you know it goes all the way back to the beginning when adam was created you know he was created and he he meant to have a relationship with god of course but he looked and he said it's not good that the man is alone and he made eve for for the man because not only are we meant to have a relationship with god we're meant to have a relationship with one another and that's
